The 24 Member States of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Heritage, holding its 4th session in Abu Dhabi, decided to recognize the Nestinarstvo fire-dancing from Bulgaria as a part of cultural heritage of humanity.

The ritual of Nestinari fire dancers became largely commercialized in last 30 years and is now performed for the tourists of travel to Bulgaria all over the seaside resorts of the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast.

The old ladies singers from Bistritza, Bulgaria were inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2005.
